Company Timeline

Just one year after our inception, we hired our first service technician, Terry Moore. Terry worked as a lead tech until his retirement in December 2014. Terry was the first hire in a long line of successful industrial HVAC technicians.

In 1995, we started to see the need for additional after market sales support. We created our OEM division to help with the aftermarket support including compressor sales.

At Combined Refrigeration & Smart Family, we believe listening to the customer is paramount to our success. In 1997, through the requests of our customers, we decided to engineer a rental line of AC units. These units were built to withstand all the rigors to which rental equipment is subjected. We designed these units from the ground up, unlike many of our contemporaries.

As we continued to grow, we found the need for expansion. The only way to go is up as they say. Additional manufacturing space was added to help keep up with the increased demand.

Smart Family goes “national”. Smart Family now supports 13 representatives and 96 authorized service agents. These service agents helped to bring us into accounts like DuPont, PPG, and Veolia Water, just to name a few.

In 2009, the Smartech line of heavy commercial & industrial equipment was launched. This product focused on SSCD model Screw Chillers and industrial Direct Drive Air Handlers.

In January of 2010, we felt the need to have a presence on the East coast. As such, we added a Sales & Marketing office in Southwestern Virginia to assist with our growth in that area.

Our Gulf Coast customers wanted us to build more explosion-proof and low temperature equipment locally in Houston. Once again, our customers spoke and we listened.
